On 15 of May 2024, a lecture, titled "Myths and facts about the European Union" was held in Dolné Dubové, a small village in the Trnava region of western Slovakia. Around 20 people, mostly senior citizens, attended the event where the main focus was to clarify the most common misconceptions and myths about the European Union.

The gathering took place in the municipal office building and was organised by BELC member, Jana Dirgová, local councillor of Dolné Dubové, in collaboration with EUROPE DIRECT Senica. The selected speaker was Marián Naniaš, former Head of the Nuclear Market Monitoring division of Euratom, who was requested to talk to citizens because of his vast experience within European Union institutions and his firm position in the science community. Participants were comfortable asking him various questions related to the EU.

"I think there is a lack of awareness of the European Union in our area and therefore we cannot be surprised that people believe in misinformation, so we would like to change this," Ms Dirgová explained her personal motivation behind organising this event ahead of the European Elections. She pointed out that there are plans to run similar gatherings for citizens in the future.
