Italian BELC member used media channels for advertising campaign, raising awareness of European Elections

In the picturesque Val Pusteria valley, nestled in the Trentino Alto Adige region of Italy, the importance of multilingual communication is crucial. In this area not only Italian, but German and Ladin are recognised as official languages, and this presents unique challenges and opportunities for community engagement.

One exemplary case is the proactive efforts of Robert Alexander Steger, a dedicated BELC member and President for Bezirksgemeinschaft Pustertal / Comunità Comprensoriale Valle Pusteria / Comunité Comprensoriala Val de Puster. The diverse linguistic landscape necessitated tailored communication strategies to ensure inclusivity and wider reach. For the European Elections 2024 it was crucial for the key messages to resonate across all linguistic groups within the community.

Recognizing this, Mr. Steger took the initiative and launched a tri-lingual advertising campaign to promote participation in the European Elections - both in traditional and social media. They strategically placed advertisements in various local magazines and dailies, such as Pusterler Zeitung, Alto Adige and La Usc di Ladins, ensuring wide coverage and visibility.

The campaign emphasized the importance of voting, leveraging Italian, German and Ladin content to connect with the entire community. By addressing the linguistic needs of the community, the initiative succeeded in fostering greater awareness and wider participation in the European Elections in June 2024.
