Saku, an Estonian BELC partner municipality close to the capital Tallin, organised a discussion evening on the imminent European elections and the importance of the work by the European Parliament. The event was held at Saku Vallaraamatukogu, the local library on 7 May, 2024, and the invited guest of honour was Marina Kaljurand, an experienced politician, Member of the European Parliament who has also served as Estonia’s ambassador to numerous countries.

It was an enjoyable occasion with intriguing questions addressed to the Estonian public figure. The audience gained a very comprehensive overview of the work of the European Parliament, as Ms Kaljurand explained the Parliament’s importance for the whole of Europe. She underlined that Estonians, along with citizens from other EU countries, must stand together for common European causes and invited them to vote on 9 June.

The event that attracted over 20 people, was organised by BELC member Lemmi Oro and liaison officer Anne-Ly Suvi of Saku municipality.
